The annual pot-luck event will be held at the American Legion Hall in Edmonds. The\nAmerican Legion and VFW Posts will supply turkey\, ham\, mashed potatoes\, wine\, beer\, soft drinks\, and\ncoffee/ tea. Families attending are asked to bring a dish that will be shared with others. We need side\ndishes\, salads\, rolls/bread\, and desserts. Additionally\, the “cost of admission” will be non-perishable food\nitem(s) and/or unwrapped toys. \nMembers who plan on attending the party are asked to sign up at the post meeting. indicating the number\nof guests and the class of food item you will bring. Family members and friends are invited to attend the\nparty or by email to commander@vfw8870.org. We all look forward to the fellowship.\nPlease note that the Christmas Party is being held in place of our monthly Post meeting\, which\nwould ordinarily take place on the third Wednesday.

DESCRIPTION:Past Commander Jim Blossey is now scheduling volunteers to participate in our annual Veterans Day in the Schools program. Participation ranges from simple attendance to be “saluted” by the students\, to question and answer sessions in classroom settings to speaking to student assemblies. Your editor has particpated in all three types and found them all gratifying. \nIn recent years we have had more demand from the schools than we have been able to fulfill\, so your participation will be appreciated. \nVeterans day is invariably a school holiday\, so most of these programs are held the preceding week\, generally late in the week\, with the most popular day being the Friday before the holiday. \nIf you are able to participate\, please email Comrade Blossey at jamesblossey@comcast.net. He will schedule everyone and let you know where and when you are expected.
